Assignment: After reviewing the elements of a paragraph, you will write a well developed paragraph about one type of conflict in the novel so far. Include which characters are involved and details from the novel to support your answer. 

Chapters 10-20

Write a well developed paragraph expressing your opinion on Fate vs. Destiny. Use examples from the novel to support your answer.

1. Why would the justice system sentence a 12 year old with no criminal record to 25 years in prison? Does the gravity of the crime justify the sentence?

2. What attitudes or opinions do the people working in the correctional system have about young offenders in adult prisons?

3. What factors should be taken into consideration by the justice system before sentencing young offenders?

4. What are the young inmates thinking as they are waiting to be transferred to the adult prison? How would you feel if you were in their place?
